Controller

Department: Finance and Accounting
Location: Irvine, CA

Assist the CFO in managing the†accounting function for the Bank, including but not limited to financial, regulatory, management and tax reporting, accounting systems, accounting operations and internal controls.† Ensure compliance with GAAP, applicable internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Manage financial record keeping and reporting for regulators, management and shareholders.
  • Prepare various management presentations in clean and concise format. Such presentations may include presentations to BOD, management and regulators.
  • Assist the CPA in preparation of annual report for shareholders.
  • Assist CPA firm to complete quarterly and annual tax reports and analysis of taxable income.
  • Oversee the administration of various accounting systems including the general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, investment portfolio accounting and asset/liability management.
  • Participate in accounting systems implementation and conversion task forces.
  • Maint the Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide reports to operating units to assist management in the assessment and analysis of performance in meeting established goals.
  • Assist the CFO in the budget process for both the operating and capital budgets.
  • Manage the General Ledger certification preparation and review modeling reporting of the stae dated aged items
  • All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelorís degree in Accounting, or closely related field; and 5-10 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of:

  • Financial planning and budgeting concepts.
  • Banking laws and regulations
  • General banking operations and systems.
  • Preparation regulatory and financial reports
  • Customer service and operations practices in the banking industry.
  • Analytical, project management and managerial skills.

Abilities:

  • Enter data in personal computer and use calculator; operate telecommunications equipment and other office equipment.
  • Use word processing, spreadsheets, and specialized financial systems software.
  • Analyze, interpret, summarize and present information and data in an effective manner.
  • Plan, organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Analyze and solve work problems
  • Follow oral and written instructions
  • Communicate clearly, either orally and in writing.
